Hungry...for Mercy

Driving to the mall, I always see them…the guys with the “Hungry: Will Work for Food” signs. I find it easy to ignore those sign holding guys – after all their choices led them to that life.
But would my choices lead anywhere less? My sins are just as repulsive to a holy God, and the only reason why I’m not holding that sign is by God’s mercy (mercy is when we don’t get what we deserve). Then Lamentations 1:12 strikes my heart with compassion for those who are hungry and homeless:

Is it nothing to you, all you who pass by?
Look around and see.
Is any suffering like my suffering
that was inflicted on me,
that the LORD brought on me
in the day of his fierce anger?

Today’s risk: Show mercy on others as God has shown mercy to you.
